This activity was inspired by efforts from the 2013 summer animation day camp team at Collège Laval!

Description and organisation

During this activity, kids are asked to create a mural with their favorite foods and those they believe to be nutritious. Consequently, they are called up to stand under their favorite foods, under foods they don’t like, and under those with nutritious value.

Skills

  • Development of an awareness of healthy nutrition
  • Creativity
  • Ability to reflect and share their opinions

Variations

One mural could be completed per age group.

Following that, all the murals together could be posted on a wall to create an art gallery. This way, parents have access to the children’s work.

Goal

Developing an awareness of healthy nutrition and developing the ability to talk about their favourite foods.

Equipment

  • Grocery flyers
  • Large cardboard/paper to create a mural
